Olhao : sailing tour on a small catamaran on the Ria Formosa

Algarve

Discover the Ria Formosa National Park by sailing on a small wind powered catamaran. Fantastic views of the islands, beaches and birds, close contact with the natural elements of this paradise.

Highlights

  • Sportive wind sailing on the Ria Formosa Natural Park
  • Get closer to birds, take a break on a deserted beach
  • Reach spots where large motor boats or pedestrians cannot go to

Description

We start from the Grupo Naval de Olhao (GNO) where the boat is stationed. After a short briefing and hand out of necessary items (wetsuits if needed, sailing shoes/gloves, life-jackets). The catamaran is put into the water and we sail out of the marina to explore the Ria Formosa. Depending on the wind and tide conditions we sail towards the islands of Culatra or Armona. We can observe birds on the shores at a close range as our boat doesn't make any motor noise. Then we stop either at a beach or a bar/restaurant for a break and to enjoy the local sceneries. The return to Olhao / GNO is by sail again. Total duration of the experience should be between 2 and 3 hours, to be agreed upon before departure.
