Description
Begin in the village of Praia da Luz. Walk the beachfront promenade and viewpoints. Visit Rocha Negra viewpoint (lava cliffs with panoramic views). Enjoy an optional quick coffee before heading west. Next, head to Burgau, known as “The Portuguese Santorini.” Park at the top of the village and wander down whitewashed alleys. Enjoy cliffside viewpoints above the beach. Take photos from the viewpoint on the east cliffs overlooking the bay. Stop for a quick drink or pastry at a seaside café if you like. Continue to Salema, a relaxed fishing village with calm waters. Walk the promenade and beach. Take an optional quick visit to the dinosaur footprints on the eastern cliffs (short walk; low tide recommended). This is a great place for a seaside snack. Stop in central Sagres for lunch or a light meal. Choose from nice options near the harbor or town center. Stroll through the surf-vibe shops and cafés. Explore the huge sea-fort on the cliffs. Walk the perimeter trail (spectacular coastal views). See the wind compass (rosa dos ventos), walls, and ocean cliffs. Finally, head to Cabo de São Vicente (Cape St. Vincent), the southwestern tip of Portugal. Admire the dramatic cliffs, lighthouse, and epic Atlantic views.
