Praia do Amado Beach
At the northern end of the beach you can find the most amazing coloured stones
Located on the wild and beautiful Costa Vicentina, Praia do Amado is a popular beach with surfers, families and nature lovers.
Situated just south of the village of Carrapateira (itself home to a wonderful beach), access to Praia do Amado is easy. Travelling from the south, just follow the sigposted turn to the left all the way out to the beach on the surfaced road.
Praia do Amado has hosted various national and international surf and body board competitions and has it’s own surf school, located by the beach. On any day, particularly during the week end you will see dozens of surfers honing their skills in the Atlantic waters.
The beach is a broad expanse of fine sand, backed by dunes and edged by cliffs. At low tide various rock pools are exposed. At the northern end of the beach you can find the most amazing coloured stones – hues ranging from green, ochre, pink and black, in colourful striations crafted by Mother Nature.
